Announcement of the Schedule for the ‘2027 Seoul World Youth Day’ (WYD)

On Sunday, August 3, 2025 (local time), Pope Leo XIV announced the schedule for the 2027 Seoul World Youth Day (WYD) during the Closing Mass for the Jubilee of Youth held at Tor Vergata in Rome. The main event of WYD, which will be hosted in Seoul, is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, August 3 to Sunday, August 8, 2027.

Following the Pope’s announcement of the main WYD dates, the schedule for the Diocesan Days has also been confirmed. These programs take place in various dioceses prior to the main event, and will be held from Thursday, July 29 to Monday, August 2, 2027, lasting five days and four nights.

The Diocesan Days will take place in 15 dioceses across Korea, excluding the Archdiocese of Seoul, which will host the main event. During this period, young pilgrims will have opportunities to engage with local communities, experience Korean culture, and deepen their faith through unique diocesan programs.

Registration for the main event will begin on Monday, August 2, 2027. Therefore, pilgrims participating in both the Diocesan Days and the main WYD events will begin their transition to Seoul on Monday to receive accommodations, welcome kits, and other materials.

The theme verse for the 2027 Seoul WYD is:
“Take courage; I have conquered the world.” (John 16:33)
